Unbelievable Donation!

Supreme Master Ching Hai, who had already donated $3,000 towards the Lake Soluton Elementary School in the Philippines, has made another unbelievable donation for the elementary school in Ethiopia and an unnamed three more schools in Africa. The $20,000 donation will go to providing permanant clean water systems to each of these schools, which will allow these children to spend their time furthering their education instead of walking for water and will hopefully save lives for generations to come.

Thank you Supreme Master Ching Hai for your truly unbelievable support!

We turn our attention to school in Ethiopia

It looks like since we have reached our goal for helping out in the Philippines, we will be putting everything that we raise from here on out to help an elementary school in Ethiopia.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the cause!

Our Goal has been Reached

As of today, we have raised $5,107 for Lake Soluton Elementary School in the Philippines. This will be enough money to bring to them a brand new water system so that they will not have to waste their time every day walking to get water and will instead be able to put that time into furthering their education.

Thank you to everyone for your tremendous support!

How students can get involved...

If you would like to participate, we will be leaving Greenwood Elementary School every day at around 6:40 a.m. and then arriving at the High School at around 7:15 a.m. and will be walking on the sidewalk of CR 101/Peony Lane. In regards to after school, there will be a group meeting at the athletic entrance at around 2:30 p.m. to head back, but with all of the extra-curriculars that students are involved in after school, it will be less of an organized effort. There will be free hot apple cider offered before we head out on our walk in the mornings, so you should definitely come and support the cause on any of the school days during the month of December and bring a friend while you are at it.

How adults can get involved...

We hope to raise enough money to provide easy access to water for an entire school in the Philippines. The cost of this is about $5,000 and this is what we therefore hope to achieve. Any kind of financial support would be greatly appreciated and would be welcomed whole-heartedly. Lastly, H20 for Life is a 501 (c) (3) organization that is able to provide tax deductible incentives.
A little bit about H20 for Life:

It was started by a teacher in Minnesota who wanted to provide water for a friend in Kenya, started a school fundraiser, rose over $13,000 and then decided to go further and actually create the organization, H20 for Life.

In regards to what they do, H20 for Life partners with schools in the United States to collectively help make clean water accessible and sustainable to schools in countries like Ethiopia, Philippines, and Mozambique who do not currently enjoy easy access to water. Specifically, they call their projects WASH (Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene) projects as they hope to provide these 3 things to all of the schools they serve. We will be raising money for a particular school in the Philippines.
Quick Overview of what the Wayzata Walk for Water is...

Think to yourself how many times you have turned on a water facet and expected water to come out or how many times you have taken a sip of water from a drinking fountain and enjoyed the pleasure of the cool water provided. Then imagine that instead of being able to turn a facet or walk a couple steps to a drinking fountain, you were forced to walk 2 or more miles to get a bucket of often tainted or polluted water, and then to have to make the 2 mile journey back.

Although this seems far-fetched, there are kids all over the world who have to go through this every day, and we think that something must be done about it. From December 1st until December 23rd a group of Wayzata High School students will be making a 1.5 mile trek every school day to and from school under the less than ideal conditions of Minnesota’s winter to symbolize the walk that kids all over the world make every day for water. The hope is to raise enough money to provide an entire school with a water system so that these kids will be able to walk 2 steps instead of 2 miles for a simple glass of water. We will be working with a charity called H20 for Life to make sure that the money goes to the right place and that these kids lives are forever changed.
